Welcome to the Dover Castle Archers

Welcome to the Dover Castle Archers

Formed in 1978 we’re not connected to Dover Castle nearby but our first practice ground was very close to it at the Duke of York’s School. Today, our outdoor shooting ground is at the beautiful Waldershare Park, about 5 miles from Dover in Kent. We are a target archery club affiliated to the UK governing body ArcheryGB with facilities to shoot outdoors most of the year and indoors during the winter months, our members mostly shoot the recurve, compound or English longbow. We try to be a relaxed and friendly club, catering for those who just want an absorbing hobby or for the serious minded sportsperson. Archery is a great sport for families. Shooting is possible most days of the week outdoors. Indoors we shoot on Sunday mornings and some Thursday evenings during the winter season. Please explore the website for more details ...

A Day Of Champions

A Day Of Champions

Last weekend an intrepid duo of archers and their coach set off from their home ground of Dover to the stormy land of Vigo. Battling torrential rain and strong winds during their longest distances of 100 yards and 40 yards and after 8 hours of shooting the duo came away County Champions! Being one of those archers when my bow and I were soaking wet with no end to the rain in sight it was a very tough day, but it was worth it in the end as it gives more confirmation that we are "Probably Kent's Best Archery Club". I just want to say thank you to all those who have coached us through the years. If it wasn't for you guys we wouldn't be where we are today! Maybe we should change our tag line to "Probably Kent's Best Archery Club With Probably Kent's Best Coaches" ...

Congratulations Castle Moat & Folkestone Bowmen on winning, once again, our yearly competition! It was a great day with lots of cake and laughs and some pretty great scores if i do say so myself (640 Recurve New Western :P)! Thank you to all who came and shot for the club and thank you to everyone from Castle Moat & Folkestone Bowmen who gave us a great competition with some seriously impressive shooting (100 yard longbow, I'd have no chance at that)! Unfortunately after 3 hours of rain, wind and super sunshine the visiting archers just beat us so next year look out, we're going to take it! ...
